The five-year, USAID-funded Preparedness and Response (P&R) project works with national governments in 16 countries across Africa and Southeast Asia to establish and strengthen their systems to prevent, detect and respond to emerging disease threats, using the One Health approach. DAI Global LLC – a development company based in Bethesda, MD – manages the project through an administrative headquarters in Bethesda, and three regional offices in Abidjan, Côte D’Ivoire; Kampala, Uganda; and Bangkok, Thailand. Additional project advisors are based in most of the 16 project countries. The project focuses on communicating the value of the One Health approach in preparedness and response to government ministries in focus countries, and communicating the value of P&R’s implementation to our donor, USAID, and the One Health community generally.
Our challenge with the Preparedness & Response site was to redesign and develop an easily updatable website which better speaks to project accomplishments described in their client reports, informs the public about their work, and is optimized for search engines as well as mobile devices.
As part of the P&R site redesign, we addressed the site architecture, creating a simplified navigation structure. We also refreshed the overall look and feel of the brand and optimized for the mobile experience – ensuring proper accessibility on all device types. On the back end, the content management system was heavily customized to allow for easy content editing and use by users with absolutely no code experience.
P&R’s new website now provides users with up to date information on One Health efforts & initiatives. Users are able to access an attractive, easy to navigate the site on a variety of device types, as well as able to find the site more easily through the use of search engines like Google or Bing. In terms of site administration and maintenance, P&R personnel are able to , make updates to the site, add new pages and maintain content with the minimal knowledge of content management systems or code.
